Since earning his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in 1988, Dr. Esquerdo has been committed to advancing the field of podiatry. He completed a rigorous surgical residency specializing in foot and ankle reconstruction at Saint Mary's of Nazareth Hospital Center in Chicago, IL, in 1990. Dr. Esquerdo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Chemistry with a minor in Spanish literature from Inter American University in San Juan, PR.
As a skilled podiatrist, Dr. Esquerdo specializes in various treatments, including advanced laser therapies such as MLS, LightForce, and Remy lasers, medical pedicures, foot and ankle reconstruction, diabetic foot care, and addressing hereditary and acquired deformities. He is also proficient in physical therapy applications of cold lasers for pain management and other conditions, as well as treating skin conditions of the foot and providing orthotic fabrication and fitting services. Dr. Esquerdo is affiliated with Pavia Hato Rey Hospital Center and San Juan Health Center, Ambulatory Clinic, ensuring comprehensive and expert care for his patients.
Alongside his medical career, Dr. Esquerdo is an accomplished private pilot with an Instrument Rating. He is board qualified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery (ABPS) and is an active member of the International Foot and Ankle Society.
